Free Union Residence

Near the peak of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the greater Free Union area sits a beautiful home with an equally amazing view. Built more than twenty-five years ago, the house had begun to show its age – the original cedar shake roof needed replacement, the windows required upgrading, and the kitchen felt small, enclosed, and lacked connection to the beautiful mountain vistas available. The initial scope focused on enlarging the kitchen and adding a family room to better capture the fantastic view. In collaboration with Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects and their interior design team, we refined, reworked, and updated the entire home, elevating its overall aesthetics to create a warm, welcoming living space that fully embraces its remarkable surroundings. We also added a detached garage to house the owner’s car collection, completing the transformation with a functional and complementary addition to the property.
